Competition Law

In pursuit of globalization, India has responded well by opening up its economy, removing controls and resorting to liberalization. As India transforms into a globalized and liberalized industry, its industry stakeholders are facing ferocious competition. As a natural corollary to this, India has enacted the new competition law called the Competition Act, 2002 (“Competition Act”) which is meant to replace the extant Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Act, 1969 (“MRTP Act”) and provide institutional support to healthy and fair competition. Rebus Legal has recognized the potential of this Sector and the possibilities that it holds for the firm’s clients. As such, the firm’s members have secured a strong presence in prosecuting anti-competitive market elements on behalf of its clients and conversely defended vexatious litigation.

We exercise utmost sensitivity while dealing with competition and antitrust cases, especially when it involves clients accused of cartel activity in particularly sensitive sectors, high profile or ground breaking merger control work and abuse of dominance representation. The team spends a considerable amount of time and effort in getting to know the client’s industry in order to appreciate and understand sector specific issues and the clients’ interests.
